Obituary of Lester Gunderson

“Lester George Gunderson, 88, passed away on Monday, April 25th, 2011 at his home in Colorado of natural causes. Lester was born on June 26th, 1922, the son of Edwin A. and Mary (Blucher) Gunderson in Lake Preston, Kingsbury Co., South Dakota. He was raised and educated in South Dakota and Texas and graduated from South Dakota High School in Huron, South Dakota. Lester and his twin brother, Leslie, joined the United States Navy during WWII. He was a mechanic on the air craft carrier U.S.S. Cowpens. He served his country in the Pacific theater. On June 16th, 1946, Lester married Relda Larson in Arlington, South Dakota. To this union, two sons were born: James W and Lynn D Gunderson. The couple made their home on a farm just west of Arlington until 1964, when they moved to Rapid City, South Dakota. Lester worked for Gunderson
