Obituary of Mark Hartzell

“In loving memory of Mark E. Hartzell, who passed away at home on March 15th, 2011. What an amazing battle you fought my angel; you will be deeply missed by all. Mark was born September 19th, 1955 in Denver, CO. Preceded in death by Parents, Emerson Lee Hartzell and Lois Medith Calaway. Also proceeded in death by Father-in-Law, Chester Hoggatt, Sister-in-Law, Cynthia Wheeler and Niece, Karen Massa. Mark is survived by his Wife, Karen (Hoggatt) Hartzell; Daughters, Melissa Kiernan, Danielle Hartzell and Michelle Hartzell; Granddaughters, Audrey Kobi and Ava Kiernan; Sisters, Melanie Ruscio, Marilyn Prosser and Marsha Arnold; Nieces, Erin, Renee, Kelly, Kayla, Katrina and Meredith; Nephews, Curt, Kyle and Trevor. Mark was a loving Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, Friend and Neighbor. He grew up in Lakewood, CO. As a young child, Mark was an incredible baseball pitcher and player. He was an Eagle Boy Scout, loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He was a fantastic drummer. He played in the marching band, jazz bands and rock bands. He graduated from Alameda High School in 1974. Mark went to work for Tree Electric, where he spent the next 34 years as an electro-mechanical technician. He married Karen, daughter of Chester and Loretta Hoggatt, on April 20, 1985. Their first dance as husband and wife was the polka, which was very symbolic of their next 25 years together.
