Obituary of Mae Martin

Mae Yates Martin died in Boulder at daybreak on July 26, 2008. Born on March 25, 1921 to the Honorable Judge E.T. Yates and Bessie Yates. She married her college sweetheart Jim Martin, Surgeon, who preceded her in death in 1970. Mae received a B.A. from the University of Texas in journalism and her M.A. from the University of North Texas in history. She was the President of Democratic Women’s Club for many years. Mae sang professionally with an operatic voice she was also an accomplished poet, writer, journalist, and teacher. She played 80 years of bridge. She is survived by daughters, Kate Yates and Cathy Francis; her son, Jim Martin, Ph.D and family. Services will be at 4:00pm on August 8, 2008 at Frasier Meadows Chapel the Reverend Dr. N. Martin- Coffey officiating. Mae requested donations to the Obama campaign.
