Obituary of Cordella Powell

Cordella E. Powell passed away on June 21, 2010 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette, Co with her family by her side. Cordella, or “Dell” as she was known by her family, was born on December 4, 1927 to Theresia (Kessler) Egloff and Meinrad Egloff in Earlville, IA. The youngest of 5 children, Cordella attended and graduated from St. Joseph’s School. On July 19, 1949 she married Kenneth E. Powell to whom she was married for 60 wonderful years. During their earlier years of marriage, Cordella enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom and babysitter. She also operated a re-weaving business from her home. Cordella and Ken moved their family to Northglenn, CO in 1972. In 1974, she began working for Storagetek in Broomfield, CO as an electronics assembler and continued to work there until 1985, when she retired. Cordella is survived by her son Jeffry (Jodi), daughter Pam (Dale), granddaughter Amber, sister Cornelia “Cora” Lentner and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Cordella was preceded in death by her loving husband Ken, sisters Loretta Hildebrand and Agnes Eike, and brother Frank Egloff. Cordella was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Northglenn, CO. Her faith was very important to her and she loved attending mass until her recent health conditions prevented her from doing so. Cordella also enjoyed sewing, watching the Colorado Avalanche, Notre Dame football, and spending time with her family. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 28, 2010 at Fort Logan National Cemetary, Staging Area “B” at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
