Obituary of Spencer Russell

Spencer Koby Russell was born October 7, 1997. he was baptized on November 16, 1997. He was an Eighth Grader in Strasburg Hemphill Middle School, where he was in Advanced Algebra and took a Geometry class at Strasburg High School. He was a very good student and played percussion instruments, especially the drums, and the guitar in the school band. He was a gregarious kid and had many school friends. But Spencer’s passion was riding his motorcycle. he had his first motorcycle at four years old, and at the age of six he began motocross racing, where he made jumps taller than some buildings. This last year he began road racing, where he was to get an award for “Rookie of the Year” from the MRA (Motorcycle Racing Association) in February. he was an aggressive rider and often reached over 100 mph on his motorcycle. Spencer died on January 10, 2012, after living a very full life for a 14-year-old. He is survived by his parents, Jason and Robin Russell; his sister, Danielle Russell (15); his grandparents, Ron and Tara Russell, Joni Samora, and Roger and Barbara Kaspersen; his great-grandmother, Carol Clark; his uncles and aunts, Brendon and TJ Russell, Andy and Shannon Russell, Ryan and Anne Marie Kaspersen; cousins, Mickey Hunt, Alexsi Russell, Madison Russell, Sam Russell, Austin Russell, Lauren Russell, Alyssa Kaspersen, Hannah Kaspersen, and Emma Kaspersen, and many extended family relatives. Spencer leaves a very big hole in our family and we will miss him terribly. Spencer’s Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 21st, at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 4500 Wadsworth Blvd., Wheat Ridge, CO. In lieu of flowers, two separate Spencer Russell Memorial Funds have been set up. One is at Guaranty Bank in Strasburg, CO, but donations can be made at any branch of Guaranty Bank. The other fund is on the Motorcycle Racing Association website, MRA-racing.org.
