I apoligize in advance if I have reference to the wrong Harper Treece. The Harper I knew was working as Manager of the Walgreen stockroom at 801 16th st. in 1953 or so. I was just a 15 year old kid on his second job as stockboy. A job my Uncle Bill Mitchell got me into. This Harper Treece was the most patient and considerate boss I ever had. He opened my eyes to many things which I became involved with in the 1960’s. I will always have fond memories of this Harper Treece. A truly fine gentleman.

My heartfelt condolences to Terry, his family and to Rhonda and her family. Harper and I worked together for many years and the Treece family lived across the street from us for many years. In the last few years, Harper and I talked on the phone from time to time and he wanted to rehash some very old matters. He knew I cared about him. I am so sorry that he is no longer with us but I know he will rest in peace.

“Termite”, one of the founding members of the HHC (Hammer Head Club ) of Coffeyville, Kansas, will be sorely missed! We have such fond memories of reunions in Los Angeles, Santa Fe and in Colorado! We loved his jokes, his attempts to replicate Tensley’s BBQ sauce as well as his love and compassion for us all, including the pets! He almost had us convinced that his left-handed fountain pen writing made him a superior being! He was superior in his patience, acceptance and love. He was a “student and a scholar”. The only thing he couldn’t do was sing. When he broke out in song while in the back seat of our car one evening ( singing an HHC song ) , we had to pull to the side of the road to avoid an accident because we were laughing so hard! May he rest in peace with his Mother and beloved Jo.

Dear family and friends, Frist I, want to thank my brother and his family for all the hard work they did for our Dad. It’s never easy when you have to take care of an elderly person. It takes a certain type of fabric to carrythrough day after day, year after year. And that’s what Terry and his family did. Thank-You. Daddy, I will miss you so very much. You brought so much to me. From teaching me to walk in high heels, to severing that tennis ball. He taught me and brought so much too me. I’ll miss how he just knew he was cute. I’ll always be Daddy’s little girl. I’m going to miss Harper F. Treece. Love, RHONDA K. TREECE
