Carolyn was born on November 7, 1934, the third of three children born to Arthur L. Browne and Clara C. Treulieb Browne. She was born in Denver and grew up on Franklin Street in the DU area. Her family moved to Idledale when she was 10. The mountains appealed to her adventurous spirit and she made many firends in her new found mountain community. She graduated from Bear Creek High School in 1952 and worked at Security LIfe for a short time before she married Charles J. Braun of Idledale in 1955. Together they raised their three hildren and ran a cattle ranch. Carolyn loved company and her door was always open to the many friends she made over the years. She loved traveling, horseback riding, talking on the phone with friends, a good joke, ice cream socials and a trip to Black Hawk now and then. She was an invaluable member of the Jefferson County Historical Society as a tour guide coordinator for many years, and served on the board of directors for the Humphrey Memorial Park and Museum. Kidney failure in 2002 put her on dialysis 3 days a week and took its toll on her body. Although her physical limitations would not allow her the active lifestyle she so loved, she still remained active through conversations and visits with her many treasured friends.
