Obituary of Edythe Bruns

Edythe Bruns, a long time Bay Ridge resident in New York, died peacefully in her home in Colorado on July 17, 2010, twelve days before her 98th birthday. Born in Brooklyn, she watched her neighborhood grow from farmland to a thriving suburban community. During those years, she married, raised her family and then settled in Bay Ridge with her husband George who pre-deceased her in 1971. Edythe was an active leader in the Bay Ridge Garden Club, the Bay Ridge chapter of AARP and the Lutheran Hospital Auxiliary. Among her many activities, she pursued her passion for Bridge for over 65 years. She is survived by her son, Robert and his wife Ruth, of New Jersey, her daughter, Valerie Mashkuri and her husband, Javad, of Colorado & Florida, six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. In accordance with her wishes, a Memorial service will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 7420 Fourth Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11209 on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 9:30 AM.
