John Bukacek

Obituary of John Bukacek

Life is Good Johnny Bukacek had his Heavenly day on April 26, 2011. Born to Edith and Adolph Bukacek in the Bohemian community of Dodge, Nebraska on August 4th, 1945, Johnny grew up with his twin brother, Adolph Jr., and sister Ramona. A quote that Johnny often spoke, “Life is Good.” The Bukacek family moved from Nebraska to Denver in the late 1950’s. John and Junior quickly acclimated to city life, developed lifelong friendships, and “raised a little hell.” Brother JR and Johnny maintained not just a brotherhood but also a solid business partnership. During those 40 some years, they celebrated the birth of their children and mourned the deaths of their parents. They supported each other through marriages and separations. They marveled at the lives that their lives created; Kevin and Kellie (John’s son and daughter) and Becky (Junior’s daughter). And the grandchildren that became part of the Bukacek legacy; Josiah (Kevin’s son), Taylor (Kellie’s daughter), and Joseph and Jeffery (Becky’s sons). Years of playing hard and working hard took their toll prematurely on brother JR and in 2007, he passed on leaving his beloved wife Lynn, after suffering the effects of emphysema, a form of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Johnny dealt with the loss of his twin brother with the support of his sister, Ramona, his family, and the friends who played and worked hard with them both. Johnny maintained his spirit for adventure and perhaps took on the better part of JR’s ornery spirit…even so, Johnny quit smoking, with the hope of delaying the inevitable. ? But, the inevitable “is what it is.” The condition that afflicted JR, eventually caught up with Johnny and changed his lifestyle significantly. Johnny began suffering the effects associated with severe emphysema. After almost two years on assisted oxygen and multiple medications to strengthen his cardio pulmonary health, he succumbed to a bout with pneumonia. At his side on his last day were his children, Kevin and Kellie, his sister, Ramona, and other members of his loving family and friends. It would be no suprise to any of us if he is now raising hell in Heaven with his brother JR. Rest in peace Dad. We love you and will miss you.
