Obituary of Nita Clements

Nita Renee Clements was born April 7, 1958 to Arthur Lee Payne and Orian B. Sims at Colorado General Hospital in Denver, CO. She went home to be with the Lord peacefully on March 27, 2015 under the loving care of her mother after battling ovarian cancer for 16 months. Nita was born and raised in Denver, CO. She graduated from East High School in 1977 where she was involved in numerous activities including Black Student Alliance, Volley Ball, Marching Band, Drill Team, Drum and Bugle, Pep Club, Skating Club and what she was most proud of, ROTC. After graduating from High School she participated in Job Corps in Pueblo, CO. She later completed her certification at the Colorado College of Medical and Dental Assistants in 1985. She worked for 32 years as an Apheresis Technician at St. Joseph’s Hospital blood donor room where she was well known and liked by her co-workers and others throughout the Hospital. Nita was a devoted wife and mother. In 1980, Nita married Cornell Clements. Together they raised two sons, Ahmad and Arian Clements. Her sons were the pride and joy of her life. She was not only their guardian but also a confidant. Nita was a devout Christian. She was an active member of Living Waters Tabernacle since 1972 where she taught Sunday school to the preschoolers for 27 years, was a member of the church choir, and served as the crafts teacher during church camp. Nita loved working with children, being creative and artistic, crafts, crocheting, baking, cooking and sports. She also loved dogs and actively volunteered in the community. Nita was a very kind and gentle soul; she had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others. She stood up for what she belived in and defended what was right. She endured a great deal but never complained or wanted to impose on anyone. She remained strong in her faith to the end. Nita was loved and cherished by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her mother Orian Wilson (Vern), her best friend and husband of 35 years, Cornell Clements, her beloved sons Ahmad Rashad Clements and Arian Clements, siblings Melonie Romney-Lattany, Celeste King and Aaron Wiley, nieces Shay-La Romney and Lela Lattany, nephew Kaylin King, uncle and cousins Freddie Sims, Wylia Sims and Paj Sims, and many other relatives.
