Obituary of Philip Allen McCreedy

Phil McCreedy was born April 9, 1936 in Brighton, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents Dorothy and Murry McCreedy, his brother Gordon McCreedy, and his granddaughter Kelli. He passed away in his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Phil was a well known OB-GYN in the Wheat Ridge, CO area. His gift to the world was delivering over 10,000 babies and caring for his patients.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Carol and 8 children – Laura McCreedy, Kent (Terri) McCreedy, Matt (Kari) McCreedy, Kelly (John) O’Conner, Katy Donahue, Laura (Mike) Wafer, Julie (Rod) Manuel, and Carolyn (Morgan) Schilling.

Phil was, “Papa Doc” to 21 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren who filled his days with joy and laughter. For the grandkids, they savored any chance they could get to play a game of Canasta with their Papa Doc. He was a great story-teller and shared countless stories of growing up in Washington, Iowa. He was so proud of his heritage and the legacy of his families medical service.

During the seasons of his life he enjoyed fly fishing, boating, skiing, photography, traveling, cycling, ranching and golf. One of his greatest ambitions was to beat Carol just once at golf!

Phil was a man of integrity an great kindness. He was generous with his love an time. He loved adventure, but was happiest in his soft clothes. You ran the race, fought the good fight, and will be forever missed but not forgotten.

There will be a family celebration of life on Thanksgiving Day. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dr. MCreedy’s honor to: The Denver Hospice.
