Obituary of Doris May Gorman

Doris May (Sandy) Gorman, was born at home on March 12th, 1932, in Galesburg, Illinois.  She later lived in Ohio and then moved to Colorado.  She ventured out in her late teens, to California and Arizona.  She eventually moved back to Colorado.  Sandy married John Gorman in 1957.  They were married until his death in 1997.  She worked at shirt laundries and later making guides for corduroy and medical supplies, until her retirement at age 72.

Always independent, she loved taking her beloved Chevy Impala out for a spin (sometimes to play video poker).  And so independent, that she resisted attempts to come live at the home of her daughter Susan and son-in-law Jon at the age of 87, but finally to our delight, agreed to, in January of 2019.

Sandy had a mischievous sense of humor, and for the first time told Susan, that she had some past relatives who had been in vaudeville.  She always had a joke ready (most often about herself) and made her family and friends smile.

She also loved jigsaw puzzles and had one in progress on her table, nearly all the time.

Sandy has always loved all things Hawaiian.  She listened to traditional Hawaiian music at home and had always expressed a desire to visit.  For her 75th birthday she traveled with Susan and her two granddaughters, to Kauai and Oahu, due to Jon’s urging.  It was a special trip for the four of us, filled with wonderful memories.

She passed from this life at home on September 27th, 2019.  She is survived by her daughter Susan Jackson, her son-in-law Jon Jackson, her granddaughters Lisa Jackson, Bonnie Artim, grandson-in-law Jarrod Artim and great-grandchildren Kharis and Tanner Artim, by Jon and Susan’s loving extended family, and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am, October 14th, 2019 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, staging area B, with a lunch reception to follow.

Sandy’s favorite color was pink.  If you have any pink you would like to wear, she would have loved that!

Aloha, Mama.
