Obituary of Marty Joseph Montell

Denver, CO – Marty Joseph Montell, 76, died November 7, 2019 in Aurora, CO following a brief illness.

Marty was survived by his son, Aaron Montell of Denver, CO and his brother Marc Montell of Asheville, NC as well as many friends from across the country.

Marty was born in Zanesville, OH and raised in Columbus OH. After graduating from Bishop Hartley High School in Columbus and attending Ohio State University, he began a career in broadcasting. 

Marty’s career as an on-air host in both radio and TV started in Chillicothe, OH, then took him to Richmond, VA, South Bend, IN then to Cleveland, OH where he worked at WKYC-AM.  Eventually he relocated to Denver in the early 1970’s where he worked for KLZ-AM. After a hiatus from broadcasting Marty returned to the industry he loved in the 1990’s, working for several radio stations in Denver including KEZW-AM, KCKK-AM, and KYGO-FM. Most recently, Marty worked at Jones Radio Networks, broadcasting to many cities and towns across the country as an on-air host for their Classic Country format.
