Obituary of Donna Ann Gallardo

Born Donna Ann Roybal on May 5, 1946 in Denver Colorado, our mom left us on January 23, 2020 in Denver at the age of 73. She passed away after sustaining injuries from a fall that she could not recover from. She was surrounded by her closest family and friends. Although she was born in Denver, our mom moved to California as a child, where she went to school, married and had 4 children before moving back to Denver many years later to raise her children. Our mom was an exceptional cook and worked as a chef for many years before changing careers and working for the city of Denver at both Stapleton International Airport and Denver International Airport until retirement. After retirement, our mom spent many years volunteering for various charities. However her greatest passion was volunteering at, and running the food bank for the church she attended, Praise Center Church in Denver. She took great pride in expanding the food bank to one of the largest in the area and helping the families of the community in their times of need. Whenever someone couldn’t find her she was at the food bank organizing or filling an order for a needy family or person. Our mom took great pride in teaching her children and granddaughter how to jar foods and cook. Our mom was also an avid Colorado Rockies fan and loved attending home games with her grandson Jason. She also loved the Colorado Rocky Mountains and would visit them often, taking long drives with her sister Linda and cousin Laura. Our mom enjoyed attending her great grandson, Emilios’ soccer games regularly and enjoyed passing time bumming the city with her granddaughter, Tonya. She took regular trips to California by train to visit her son Manuel. Times she cherished very much. Our mom was one of eight children. She is proceeded in death by her mother Leona Lopez, sister Linda Thalley and a baby daughter Denise. She is survived by 3 children. Her son Manuel (Gloria) Gallardo, her daughter Rosiena (Tim) Dapper and son Orlando Gallardo. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She comes from a very large family, too many to mention, as well as a large church family. She is loved by many and will be missed tremendously. The family has opted out of a church service at this time and will be planning a celebration of life for sometime around her birthday. We ask that our wishes be respected in making this decision. Date and time for the celebration of life will be added to this page as well as the Facebook pages of her children as the time approaches.
