Obituary of Lester Henry Wilcox

Wilcox, Lester H

Les Wilcox, 92, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2020, in Centennial, Colorado, his hometown of 44 years.

His memorial service will be held at Littleton United Methodist Church on Friday, March 6th at 11:30 AM, located at 5894 S Datura St, Littleton, Colorado 80120.

Interment will follow at Ft Logan National Cemetery at 3698 S Sheridan Blvd, Denver, Colorado 80235. Please line up at staging area C at 2:45 PM.

Les was a loving husband to his wife of 67 years, Vera, and a devoted father to children Jeff, Pamela, Jennifer, seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Les was born and raised in Louisiana.  He volunteered to serve in the US Navy aboard the USS Strong in the South Pacific.  After WWII ended he returned to college and earned an electrical engineering degree at Texas A&M.  Les worked diligently to build a rewarding career designing potash processing plants in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada.

After retiring in his mid-70s, Les and Vera enjoyed cruises to Alaska, the Caribbean, Tahiti, and China.  As the grandchildren grew older, Les organized family reunion fishing trips to Otter Lake in northern Saskatchewan, Canada.  He dearly loved teaching the grandchildren how to fish for walleye and pike, shore lunches, and bear watching.

At home in Centennial, Les tended a backyard garden full of grapevines, blackberries, raspberries, semi-dwarf fruit trees, tomatoes and a large bed of assorted hot peppers.  However, his passion was tending flower beds full of daffodils, tulips, irises, hollyhocks, peonies, Clematis and Cosmos.  His favorites were California poppies and snapdragons.

We miss you, beloved husband and Dad.
