Obituary of Jean Keeth

Jean Keeth passed away on May 4, 2020 following a fall at her home.

Jean was born in in 1926 in Kelso, Washington to Arthur and Mae Osborn.  She had 4 siblings, Betty Mullen, Harriet Campbell, Anne Bundley, and Harry Osborn.

Jean married Marty Keeth in 1950 following their graduation from the University of Missouri with bachelor’s degrees in Journalism.  She worked to care for her home and family for many years while living in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Ohio, followed by a return to the workforce as an administrative assistant at multiple companies when they moved to Longmont, Colorado.  After retirement, Jean volunteered at multiple non-profit groups, including the Recording For The Blind for many years.  Her own eyesight deteriorated due to secondary impacts caused by a bout with melanoma that attacked her retinas.  She then relied on those same audio books from the library that she previously recorded herself.  Following the melanoma diagnosis in 1989, and short projected lifetime (3 months), she and Marty travelled the world on space available military planes.  They also crisscrossed the U.S. in their large motorhome.   She exceeded her life expectancy estimates by more than 30 years following her participation in an experimental antibody treatment.

Jean is survived by her son, Bob (Lorraine) Keeth of Denver, Colorado; her daughter, Nancy (John) Martin of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her sister, Betty Mullen of California; and her grandchildren: Danny Keeth and Erin (Zach) Martin – all of Denver, Colorado.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Martin Whelan Keeth; her siblings, Harriet Campbell, Anne Bundley, and Harry Osborn.

Jean was laid to rest at Ft. Logan National Cemetery next to her husband, Marty.

Jean was loved and supported by her Colorado family, as well as her siblings, nieces and nephews across the U.S.  She is missed every day.
