Don’t feel bad that Grammers didn’t hit her Milestone as in her mine she did. This last yr she told everyone that she was a 100. And u couldn’t credit her “ this is my body and I know how old I am!” I have so many happy memories of this Special Lady. When she turned 90 she told everyone that they had to dress her and she wasn’t going to walk anymore as she had done it for the last 90 years and she didn’t want to do it anymore and she didn’t. She’d make me happy to go to work everyday as she was always happy to she me. That smile would just warm my ❤️. I miss her everyday but I’m glad she’s where she’s wanted to be with as she would say “Her God” Thank U Brand Family for sharing this amazing Lady with me.

Grammer has always been my touchstone, guiding light. I shared my joys, sadnesses, and achievements with her. Grammer unconditionally loved her grandchildren. She never judged us, she always listened as if what we said was the most important thing in the world. She loved her family to pieces! I loved every moment with her.

I have so many great memories of Grammer and to pick one is very hard to do. She always had a great sense of humor and always had something positive to say, at least around us kids anyway. With that said I will never forget how she would give all of us kids a quarter to put in the collection plate at church, as she is doing this she would hold the back of your hand and press the quarter into the palm of your hand so firmly that it would almost leave an imprint. I guess she wanted to make sure you didn't you drop it. Anyhow, to this day whenever I pick up a quarter I immediately think of her. She will be missed and I hope to pass on her sense of humor and positivity to my two daughters. I will love you always Grammer.

One of my favorite memories of Marcene was actually one of the last times I saw her. I walked into her room and she gave me the strangest, most puzzling look and proceeded to ask, "why in the hell did you get a perm!?" I had grown out my hair and it had gotten very curly since I had previously seen her. She refused to believe it was my natural hair haha!
I was always amazed that she remained so quickwitted and funny throughout her years. She never missed a beat when one of her sons or family members would tease her. I will never forget the way she squeezed and held my hands in such a comforting and sweet way. I loved hearing about her stories as a ballerina and the time she dated an Italian mobster (I hope I'm recalling that correctly). I will miss her dearly, love you Marcene/Grammer!

I remember her being so kind to me and everyone she'd meet. I also remember her getting an ice cold mug out of the freezer and pouring herself a nice sudsy soda. The thing I remember the most is that one time Mac and I were riding from the pheasant farm in Papa's green truck and he tried his hand at a bit of 'birds and the bees' conversation with us and he spoke so adoringly of his bride. He proudly told us that finding a woman you could respect and love so much was for him the best thing. I've told this story to many others including my kids with such a great amount of love for my 'Stand-in' Grammer. I'm quite sure she is enjoying those dance steps she loved so much with her new, fortified mind and body.

One of my favorite memories of Grammer is about dancing. During Christmas time every year Rocky Mountain PBS shows a day of "The Nutcracker" ballet performed by different companies from around the world. One year, Grammer and I sat on the couch and watched 3 or 4 different performances as family floated in and out of the living room chatting with us periodically. She and I talked and shared dance stories. At one point, I asked her if she could still do the dance steps that the were being performed on TV. I will never forget her response to me. She said, "Honey, in my mind I can do every step perfectly. My body just won't let me anymore." I replied with, "Me too." Then she grabbed my hand and squeezed it. I knew that she understood better than most people in my life what it's like to feel those dance steps and miss doing them. It was one of the best Christmas memories I have of her. I will miss her.
