Rodney Dean Peter

Rodney Dean Peter, 64, passed away unexpectedly on June 4th, 2020, in Lakewood, Colorado.

Rodney was born on January 16th, 1956, to parents Rodger and Joyce (Stewart) Peter, at Larimer County Hospital, in Fort Collins, CO. He lived most of his life in Fort Collins and attended Moore Elementary, Lincoln Junior High, and Poudre High School. Though he didn’t complete his senior year, he earned a GED later. Throughout his childhood, he attended Bible Baptist Church and First Assembly of God with his family.

Rodney and Linda Winchell were high school sweethearts and married in 1974. To their family was born a daughter, Deanna Peter. They later divorced.

During his teen years, Rodney worked at McMurtry’s Seed & Fertilizer Company, and hauling hay for both his grandfathers, Rinehold Peter, Sr and Ervine “Stew” Stewart, before enlisting in the US Army. He served for approximately two years before receiving a medical discharge. He later worked approximately ten years for the Aurora Dentention Center as a security guard.

Rodney enjoyed firearms, target-practicing, waterskiing, watching western movies, and cars, especially his ‘66 T-bird.

He was proceeded in death by his grandparents, Rinehold (Sr) & Elenore Peter, Ervine “Stew” & Ruby Stewart, and his mother, Joyce Peter.

He is survived by his father, Rodger Peter of Fort Collins, daughter Deanna Peter, brother Keith & Karen Peter of Greeley, and many family members including various aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, a niece, and great-nieces and a great nephew.

Interment at Fort Logan National Cemetery. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
