Mela Daniels

Obituary of Mela Daniels

Born Manuelita Lucero in Roy, New Mexico on December 2, 1933, and affectionately known as and loved her role of “Tia Mela” who peacefully left us at her home on September 22, 2020. She went to be with the Lord at the age of 86 years old.

Preceded by her sons, she was the beloved mother of Richard Lee Daniels and Michael Daniels and lovingly remembered by her surviving grandchildren Dreena Daniels, Sky Daniels, and Savannah Daniels, sisters Genevieve Corbitt, Flora Lopez, and Betty Manzanares, numerous nieces and nephews, with great love.

Mela moved with her family at a tender young age to Rifle, Colorado where she was raised together with her 11 brothers and sisters. At age 21, she married Eddie Daniels and they had two sons, Richard and Michael. After living in Saint Louis, Missouri, they moved to Denver, Colorado.

Mela loved her family, music, dancing, and the Denver Broncos. She never missed a celebration be it a wedding, baptismal, or a birthday and enjoyed going to bingo and gambling in Central City. She was very kind, loving and generous to her family and friends and is known for having a soft spot for the downtrodden.  All whom loved her dearly and will never forget her undying love and caring for them.

The family would like to especially thank Alan and JoeAnn Gayton, and all her friends and family who generously gave their support during this difficult time.

Please join us in celebrating her life on Saturday, October 3rd at 10:00 a.m. for a funeral mass at Guardian Angels Catholic Church located at 1843 West 52nd Avenue, Denver, Colorado.
