A life well-lived! Got to know Steve from back in 1978 at CH2M Hill. I will always remember him for the intensity he demonstrated for his work, when talking about his family activities and other topics of interest.
He was one who helped me navigate the workings of
the corporate culture and the value of work/family balance!!
My condolences to family and friends.

I just learned of Steve's passing and was greatly surprised. We worked together at CH2M Hill for a lot of years and he was easy to work with always enjoyed him and his sense of humor. Working in the legal department and him in finance we had lots to discuss and opportunities.
My sincere condolences to his family and friends, this is a sad loss.

I was so sorry to hear about Steve’s passing. We first met in 1984 after we had both moved to Denver. He was my running buddy when we trained together for his first (and I think only marathon), my long distance cycling buddy and (of course) my drinking buddy! He lived life to it’s fullest and was never shy about telling you exactly what he thought. Steve was a profound and positive influence on my life and I unabashedly loved the guy. The last time that I saw him was in 2016 and we had a great visit and a few beers and he was happy and full of life! Rest In Peace my friend.

Reading Steve's obituary and the comment about being instrumental in many careers really rang true. In 1977 I started working at CH2M HILL and Steve became my boss that same year. He saw past the lack of a college education and gave me every challenge I could handle. He knew how to have the most fun heated discussions and probably preferred them. It broke my heart when he went to Denver but Steve was always available to help and mentor. It was an honor when he made the time to attend my retirement dinner 31 years later. After retirement he always made the time for lunch or dinner with many of us on his Corvallis visits. Steve has been a dear friend of many years. His light will always shine.

I send my condolences. Steve was always most positive in our interactions concerning sports at Heritage High School. Great wife and two great kids. Fond memories of them all. I send my best. Sincerely, Geoff Ferguson P.S. Sadly, we never could twist his arm enough to coach the throwers on our track team.
