I just heard the news of his passing today. I am deeply saddened by this. Jeff, or as I called him “my Schmeffy” was an absolute amazing person. He was my friend and my coworker. He was so great with our patients and was always the first to ask if I needed help. One funny memory I have of Schmeffy will always make me laugh… I used to take him to work and home because we lived so close to each other and my daughter at the time was maybe 7 or 8 years old and she was in the car when I was taking him home one day and she asked him where he lived, in 1,000% Jeff style he said “I live in a ditch” and my daughter believed him for awhile!!! So now anytime her and I talk about Schmeffy, she always says “oh, your friend that lives in the ditch!!” I will forever be grateful for our friendship. May he rest in peace. So sorry for your loss… he will be missed by all.

It’s been a year since Jeff left us, and the vacancy that he left in our lives has been unbearable at times. I have kept in touch with many of his friends since he died, and it has become so clear that he was loved by many more people than his mother! I miss his laugh, his hugs, his calls, him asking for burgers for dinner…he did love his work, his friends were more like brothers or sisters to him, and how the Broncos make it through a game without him cheering them on is beyond me! I know that Jeff is looking down from Heaven, but I keep waiting for him to walk thru my door.

Jeff stood up for me when someone was calling me fat and going off on me putting me down and calling me worthless. Jeff didn't hesitate to jump in and stand up for me. One in a million. Thank you Jeff

To Jeff’s family and especially his mother Carol, my sincere condolences on the loss of our beloved Jeff. If you don’t know me, I’m Nancy Berg and Jeff and I worked together at Broomfield Family Practice. He was “my MA“. I say my MA because I took ownership for him, trained, tried to educate, and laughed with him. Jeff was an exception. Not only did he have exceptional knowledge and skills as a medical assistant, but he also had people skills to make patients at ease and feel less stigmatized by their issues. He often shared his own struggles of addiction to help others know that they were not alone and that hope burns eternal.
He was destined for greater things, but his demons had a way of knocking Jeff down, and eventually his dream of being a nurse were out of reach.
I also want to share this story. One day at work, I saw Jeff walk by a coworker and “flip them off“. I said, “why did you do that?“ And Jeff said, “oh, we’re old friends and I have known her forever.“ It was his expression a fondness for his coworker but also his just messing around. I know he valued his coworkers and gave many nicknames, as I know he did to all his friends. When he first started working with me, he tried to call me “doc“, but knowing I would correct him every time being a PA, he resorted to calling me “boss“. He continued to call me boss even after he left our common workplace.
After that, I would get random texts exclaiming, 21 days until Broncos training camp!“ Or “100 days until Broncos game!” Everyone knew Jeff knew how deeply he loved the Broncos and going to the games the Broncos have a few super fan cheering them on from the heavens.
Rest in peace my friend, my colleague, my El Jeffe. Love, your boss.

Jeff was a dear friend to Alan & I. He was a very kind and generous man. Alan and Jeff met for lunch and golf almost every week in the summer 2019 and they went to a few Bronco games as well. My memories of Jeff are mostly from work at Broomfield Family Practice, he was a very good Medical Assistant, and he truly put his heart and soul into caring for others. I would come into the office early and see Jeff hard at work on his DJ turntables, ready to make his protein shake in his mini blender. He made Alan & I a tape to use at our wedding reception with a great mix of dance music. He was sometimes mischievous and one day swiped my camera to take a St. Patty's Day picture when I wasn't looking, making sure our boss, Dr. Hill and her MA Kim were included.
We loved Jeff and will always carry fond memories in our hearts.

Jeff was the kindest funniest guy I ever met and I’m so lucky I was able to meet and spend time with him.
One of the best memories I have of Jeff is when me,Kyle and him went camping at Pruitt reservoir...we set up our tents on the beach and he had a small tent since it was just him amd we had a much bigger one, it got extremely windy so windy it was lifting mine and Kyle’s tent up off the ground so we had to go to the truck (where we spent most of the night) . As for Jeff he stayed in his tent the whole night it was raining and he just slept there as content as he could be. And when Kyle walked out in the lake in flip flops and he cut his toe really bad on a rock so Jeff doctored it up and add a little bit of humor to make Kyle feel better. He loved that lake.
He was my family and friend and I wouldn’t have it any other way❤️
