Obituary of Kay Vivian Frank-Bakke

Kay was born on July 8^th, 1943 in Burke County, North Carolina.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Lomis “Elizabeth” Annas (Colorado Springs, CO), and her brother Raymond “Troy” Hollar (Peoria, IL). 

She is survived by her sister, Evelyn Hart (Calhan, CO).

After moving to Colorado at a young age, Kay married Frank Frank (deceased) and they had three children.  She is survived by her son Kenneth Frank (Seneca, SC), her daughter Valarie Frank (Madison, WI), and her daughter Kimberly Jimenez (Brighton, CO); her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and other family too numerous to be named.

In the last years of her life, Kay battled many illnesses with such strength and courage. She resided in Brighton, CO with her daughter Kimberly and her great-grandchildren.  They had lived together for more than a decade and Kimberly provided care for Kay during her great time of need.

Kay was called home to heaven peacefully from her home on March 4^th, 2021.

 

A poem from Kimberly to her mom:

Life on earth is but a stopping place,                                                
  A pause in what’s to be.
A resting place along the road,
  on the road to heaven for eternity.
I don’t think of her as gone to stay,                                                  
  her grand journey has just begun.                                              
Life holds so many facets,                                                                 
  and this earth was only one.
God must have looked around His garden,
  and He found an empty place.
And then he looked down upon the earth,
  and saw your tired face.
God knew that you were suffering,
   and He knew that you were in pain.                          
He knew that you would never,
   get well on earth again.
God saw that the road was getting too rough,
    and the hills were just too hard to climb,
So He closed your pain-filled weary eyes,
  and whimpered to you softly, “Child peace be thine”.
I struggle with my selfish thoughts,
  for I so want you to stay,
So we could walk and talk again,
  Just like we did every day.
It broke my heart to lose you now,
  but you didn’t go alone,
For part of me went with you,
  the day God called you home.
Each moment until my day arrives,
  until my time on earth is through,
I’ll miss you more than words can say,
  And always think of you.

Following Kay’s wishes, it will be private family mourning.  No Flowers Please.

In lieu of donations, the family asks that you take the time to show love and care to someone in need.  Whether it be a hug, a call, talking over a cup of coffee, a meal, a card, a ride, and financially if you can.  Just taking that extra moment to show others that you love them, that you care about them, that you acknowledge their efforts, that you think of them and they are not forgotten, that they matter to you
