Obituary of Lynne Marie Larsen M.D.

Lynne Marie Larsen, M.D., 74, passed away in Aurora, Colorado on April 14, 2021, following a 3-year struggle with vascular dementia. Lynne was born February 5, 1947 in Minneapolis, MN. She grew up in Wichita, KS, attending Wichita High School Southeast, Kansas State University, Wichita State University and the University of Kansas School of Medicine. She was a longtime resident of Prairie Village, KS.

Dr. Larsen completed KU Medical School in 1984, finishing her Psychiatry residency there in 1988. She was Chief Resident during the 1987-88 academic year. Dr. Larsen joined the faculty at KU Med in 1993 where she served as inpatient Psychiatrist and Professor of Psychiatry. She retired in 2012 after supervising a generation of residents and medical students.

Lynne was preceded in death by her parents M. Dale and Evelyn A. Larsen; and a vast menagerie of all creatures great and small. She is survived by sisters Judy K. Larsen of Mill Creek, WA; Kathy Larsen Bruner (Candace Hansen) of Aurora, CO; nephew Marshall Bruner (Viktoria); niece Meredith Whitehead (John); great-nephews Jack and Sam Whitehead; and her beloved horses Dusty, Jazz, and Wally.
