Obituary of Raul Henry Aguilar

Raul ‘Paul’ Henry Aguilar, 74, of Westminster, Colorado, was called home on May 23, 2021. 

Paul was born December 1, 1946 in Gilcrest, Colorado. He was the eldest of five children born to Raul Mellado and Reyna Aguilar.  He attended Adams City High School where he wrestled and ran cross country. He attended Lamar Junior college, Southern Colorado State, CSU and Metropolitan State College working cement jobs summmers with his father on his pursuit of  his proudly earned bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the Metropolitan State College of Denver.  After a brief career as a police officer, Paul went on to work within the community, first working to protect migrant farm workers and then developing opportunities for hundreds of job seekers. While working at the WIN Program, he met and married his beloved wife.  After working 25 years, he retired from the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment in January 1, 2003. 

Paul loved traveling, working in his yard, spending time with his grandkids, spoiling his pets, and was an enthusiastic sports fan and avid movie goer.  Paul is survived by his wife of 40 years (Mary), three children (Paul, Nicole, and Alicia), four grandchildren (Sebastian, Fabriana, Isabel, and Jordan), and one great-grandchild (Amelia), three sisters,( Anita, Luisa and Nancy), and numerous nieces/nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother (Mario), and brother-in-law (Russell).

A private burial service for family and close friends will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Brighton, on June 18, 2021, at 11:00 a.m.
