Obituary of Matthew C. Dawson

It is with heavy hearts that we must say, on Thursday, May 27, 2021, Matthew C. Dawson, loving father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend, passed away unexpectedly in Denver, Colorado at the age of 37.

Matthew was born on January 22, 1984, in Denver, Colorado to Matthew L. Dawson and Jacqueline J. Davis.

Matthew attended Hansen Elementary school and went on to Weld Central High School in Weld County, Colorado. This is where he met his oldest daughter’s mother and they had his oldest daughter, Destiny. After having Destiny, he transferred into his only professional career in his short life, a roofer, through Kerberg Roofing Co. Roofing was his only professional passion even though he did later on dabble in janitorial work through the Butte School District #1 in Butte, MT for a while.

It was through his career as a roofer that he met his soul mate and love of his life, Terry, in Brighton, Colorado with the help of his cousins, Dominic and Rikki. Matthew and Terry's souls instantly connected and bonded. They would go on to travel, explore, and have four children together.

While their physical union would not last forever, as they had hoped, Matthew and Terry will be forever bonded through their children, Maximillian, Tabbitha, Annabella, Iszabella and through the connection of their souls.

Matthew always had a smile and loved to make those around him laugh. He also had an extreme passion for nature, which is where he could always find the beauty, magic, and wonder that life and the world had to offer; he was always sharing all of that with everyone around him.

Matthew loved and was loved deeply. His unique, observant, and gentle perspective on all life was treasured because he understood challenge, through facing his own, he looked more deeply into others and provided acceptance, peace, and calm.

He was a great protector of all those he loved and cherished. There was not a day that went by that he was not thinking and talking about his family; including but not limited to every one of his children, his mom and dad, his sister "Rosie", his brothers Jesse and Casey, his uncle Chris, his cousins William, Dominic, and Rikki. Family was everything to him and he was such an amazing father, spouse, son, brother, cousin, uncle, nephew, and friend to all those around him.

Matthew will always be greatly loved and missed. He will live on through all of us and everything he taught us during his short stay with us here on Earth.

Thank you Lil' Matt, most of all for teaching us how to "just be" and how absolutely perfect that truly is.

Matthew was preceded in death by both of his grandmothers Mary and Nancy, one grandfather Patrick, and three of his cousins William, Rikki, and Dominic.

He is survived by his loving children Destiny (and her mother), Terry and their children, Maximillian, Tabbitha, Annabella, and Iszabella, his mother Jacqueline, his father Matthew, his brothers Jesse, Casey, Clinton, and Gabriel, his sister Jacqueline R., his grandfather William, and many more uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 27, 2021, at 6731 Federal Blvd. Denver, Colorado 80221 at 11 o’clock a.m. Also, there will be a potluck to follow the services at the same location. The family is asking everyone to please bring a food dish or a non-alcoholic beverage. The family also asks for anyone attending to please wear something red and/or some blingy or shinny jewelry.
