Obituary of Carol Sue Shady

Carol Sue Shady

February 12, 1940-June 20, 2021

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Carol Sue Shady in Lakewood, CO on June 20, 2021. She was a loving and devoted Wife, Sister & Aunt, Mother, Grandmother & Great Grandmother and fast friend to everyone she encountered.

Carol Sue (Armstrong) Shady was born on February 12, 1940 in St. Marys, Ohio. First and foremost, Carol was a devoted Wife, Sister and Mother. She treasured her four children and made the most of every moment with them. She especially loved her role as a Grandma and Great-Grandma. She retired from Shamrock Foods, where she made many friends who considered her as family, after a very long and successful sales career. Carol enjoyed and was an extremely talented bowler. She also adored animals and spent much of her life surrounded by dogs. Carol and her late Husband, Don Shady, spent much of their leisure time at the dog track rooting for their favorite Greyhounds. She had a vibrant personality and always made people around her smile. She made friends everywhere she went and her family spent her last days surrounded by friends with mile high stories and memories.

She was cherished and survived by her children David and April (Settell) May of Lakewood, CO., Richard and Tracey (Prestidge) Shady of Coal Creek, CO and Michael and Kimberley (Moses) Shady of Denver, CO. Adored Grandmother to Terra, Jessalynn, Tomi, Dillon, Parker, Dalton and Cassie; and dear Great Grandmother to Olive, Oliver, Emmett, Norah and Maizi. Aunt to Anthony and Brandy (Bell) Muñoz; Great-Aunt to Jazzy Muñoz, Savanah Heinen and her children Nolan, Dawson and Mia. Carol was proceeded in death by her parents Stanford and Mary Armstrong of Thornton, CO; her cherished Daughter Kelly Jo Shady of Rome City, IN; her devoted Husband Donald Shady of Aurora, CO; her cherished Sister Judi (Armstrong) Tagg of Aurora, CO and her Nephew Christopher Gaskill of Lakewood, CO.

A remembrance ceremony will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at the Coal Creek Canyon Community Center in Coal Creek Canyon Colorado (31528 HWY. 72 Coal Creek Canyon Colorado). Family and friends are welcome to come celebrate Carol with a luncheon and a brief service with pictures and Carol's favorite songs (of course Elvis will be in attendance). Carol loved St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and was a continuous monthly donor to this not-for-profit for most of her life. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and to please take a moment to love those closest to you.
