Obituary of Margie Collins

Margie Florence Collins was born on August 25, 1960, in New Orleans, Louisiana to her parents Phillip Falls Jr. and Sylvia Falls. She was the oldest of 5 children born to her parents. She was blessed with 2 brothers, Phillip and Cary, and 2 sisters, Darnell and Shirlyn. As a big sister to her 4 younger siblings she was nurturing, caring and very helpful. Margie received her formal education in New Orleans where she attended Mauricio Couvaunt Elementary as an honour student and John McDonogh High school, graduating with honours. Margie Sang in the Genesis Missionary Baptist Church choir, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Everyone's favourite part was Margie’s solo, ‘He promised to never leave me alone’. She loved to sing and dance and would sneak out and go to the second line band celebrations with Phillip. Shortly after graduating high school she enlisted in the U.S. Army, graduated basic training and earned several medals. After 3 years she enlisted in the National Guard where she retired after 20 years of serving her country with an honourable discharge. Margie was the proud mother of 2 beautiful daughters, Keisha and Pamela, and 1 handsome son, Kevin. She was a loving mother who enjoyed spending time with her children, going out to eat and to movie theatres. Margie was joined in holy matrimony, by Walter Collins, on August 7, 2000. They spent 20 wonderful years together until Margie’s eternal place in heaven was prepared and our Father called her home on July 17,2021. Margie had been a loving and nurturing woman her entire life, always there for everyone that needed her. Everyone that was blessed with the opportunity to know Margie, was loved by her unconditionally, family and friends alike. Margie is survived by her husband Walter Collins, her mother Sylvia Falls, her sister Shirlyn Darby, her 2 brothers Phillip Falls III and Cary Falls, all of Denver, her 2 daughters Keisha Watkins of Aurora, Pamela (Eric) Watkins of Denver, her son Kevin Watkins of Fayetteville, NC and her grandchildren Kevin Watkins II, Keith Watkins, Khiyah Watkins, Maguel Hudson, Karmen Watkins, Kaevin Watkins, Khloe Watkins, La’Tearra Bowie and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She departed this life following her grandparents Margie and Phillip Falls Sr, Ethel and Calvin Kerns Sr, her father Phillip Falls Jr, her aunt Virgin Kerns, her uncle Calvin Kerns Jr, her sister Darnell Pembrook, her cousin Carlene Coleman, her 2 nieces Sascha Falls and Tamarah Pembrook, and her 3 nephews Herman Pembrook Jr, Cary Hughes and Tyre Falls. Margie was beautiful inside and out and will be greatly missed and never forgotten. To know Margie was to love her.
