Obituary of Willis James Polk

Willis James Polk was born on August 17th, 1942 in Falls County, TX to Odell W.J. Polk (deceased) Lou Willie Smith "Polk" Dedrick (deceased). Two brothers Charles Edward Polk and Benny Ross Polk (both deceased).

 

Willis and his family moved to Denver in 1972. Upon arriving he was hired by Local Union 419 as a carpet installer. He worked in the union until he ventured out and open his own business Associated Carpets & Sales. Whatever you needed to know about carpet and tile he was the man to call. Yes he taught his children and grandchildren how to install carpet.

 

Willis and his family were members of Campbell's Memorial C.O.G.I.C. under the Leadership of (late) Bishop L.A. Jordan which was later renamed Greater Campbell's Memorial under the Leadership of the (late) Elder L. J. Liggins II.

 

He enjoyed talking on his CB radio, he was known to his CB buddies as "Carpetman".

 

On December 8th, 2021 Willis left us but we will forever cherish his memories.

 

Willis leaves to mourn Cheryl Polk (wife), Tammial Grimes ( daughter), Darius Ward (son), 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Three sisters Renee Polk of Dallas,TX, Wanda Dedrick McGraw of Midland, TX,  Carol Redic of Dallas, TX.  Two brothers Tommie Dedrick of Dallas,TX,

Gerald Dedrick of Pasadena,CA. nephew, cousins and friends.
