Patricia T. Pejsa

March 6, 1926 – December 11, 2021

Residence: Lakewood, Colorado

 

Just three months shy of her 96^th birthday, Patricia T. Pejsa, died December 11, 2021 at Villa Manor Care Center in Lakewood, Colorado.  Due to her advanced age, she had been under the kind and gentle care of Agape Hospice.

Born on March 6, 1926 in Marshfield, Wisconsin she bucked the professional limitations imposed in that era upon her gender and received her Bachelor and Master of Arts in Education from the National College of Education in Evanston, Illinois.   Subsequently, Pat taught elementary school education for over 40 years in Long Beach, California; Tempe, Arizona and in Greeley, Colorado for School District #6. 

While teaching at the I.D. Payne Training school at Arizona State College (now Arizona State University), she met her husband, Robert R. Pejsa (1929-2010) who also taught for District #6.  They were married for nearly fifty-five years.

Her philosophy was that the power of reading provides a bridge to freedom, a gateway for self-confidence and a springboard toward leadership. 

She was a voracious reader, enjoyed her family, camping, folk art decorative painting and dogs.  Pat made a difference in the lives of the children she taught as well as their families.

She is survived by her two children, Melissa (Mike) O’Neal of Denver, Colorado and Owen (Ann) Pejsa of Bothell, Washington.
