Our dear Irene is a kind and giving woman. She will be deeply missed. She touched many of our lives in Al-Anon. Irene generously gave of herself and time to many through the 12 Step Studies and Workshops that she held every year. She had a favorite passage from "One Day at a Time".
A good way to “get out from under” some of our daily problems is to stop reacting to everything that occurs. Some of us have a constant drive to do something about everything that happens, everything that someone says to us.
There is a time to act, of course. But the action should be based on careful thinking out of the factors. It should not be triggered by every wind that blows. When something displeases us, it isn’t a threat to our lives, our safety, or anything important. If we keep it in perspective, it will help us to “let it go.”
Today’s Reminder
I will try to overcome my tendency to react to what people say or do. I can’t know why they do it because I cannot understand their inner unhappiness and compulsions, any more than they can understand mine. When I react, I put the control of my peace of mind in the hands of others. My serenity is under my control, and I will not relinquish it for trivial occurrences.
“I pray for the tolerance and the wisdom to avoid reacting
to what other people say and do.”
One Day at a Time, p. 259
Love and hugs to all,
Pam Martinez

She was a kind, loving person who always helped people through her life experience.
Never, ever judgmental, tried to see the reason why others behaved or acted as they did.
Fun companion on our trips throughout the world, just enjoying beautiful flowers, keeping up on tours inside museums or going to old palaces where her ancestors had lived.
She will always have a very special place in my heart and I will forever miss her!
Rest In Peace!

I will always remember her smile and laughter. I had fun playing board games with her as a young child. She was instrumental in helping me plan my wedding. I will always cherish the quilts she made me. She was amazingly talented! I’m grateful to call her Grandma. She will be missed.

Irene had such a sweet spirit. I loved spending time taking Irene to doctors appointments and being with her. She really liked her coconut shrimp.
I really enjoyed all the beautiful centerpieces she would make the women’s retreats.
I know my mom worked a craft fair with Irene, when she sold her porcelain dolls. Irene will be greatly missed.Love, Tim, Lynn and Daniel Knauber and Marlyn Sacry

It’s hard to believe that Irene isn’t a phone call away to just say hi or make a date for lunch. She was always there for anyone to reach out to. With loving memories, she will be missed. xxxooo Vickie Rosenbach

Gram and I at Christmas. Some memories I will treasure, visiting with her, staying with her a month, when I moved to Denver, going to the tea houses with her, seeing the rose parade with her, having her come to my work for Gorgeous Grandmas, sewing with her, making a porcelain doll and angel with her, playing games with her, and helping her with her doll shows. Love you, Gram, I appreciate all the wisdom you gave me. Thanks for always being there for me...I'll miss you I'll try to make u proud.

We miss you, Mom! We’ve been sharing stories about our times with you. One fond remembrance is of the fun you had when the Red Hat society was popular. You had several red hats (and we found them!) and many colorful jackets.
