Obituary of Michelle Ann Hebert

Michelle Ann Hebert, 58, passed away June 16th, 2022 at the Collier Hospice Center after a long struggle with the world and a brief illness.

Michelle was born February 6th, 1964 to Judith and Hal Hebert in Denver, Colorado. She immediately resented the cold weather and would go on to spend most of her life heroically engaged in a battle of wits against winter. To this end she spent as much time as she could adventuring in the tropics. She especially loved the glamor of San Juan, Puerto Rico during the holidays.

When Michelle was six years old her family welcomed her brother Mason Beau Hebert into the world and Michelle was pleased to have finally met someone nearly as cool as herself. She was a talented artist in any medium she chose, including metal work, intricately beaded jewelry, decoupage, and mural painting. Although she never developed a musical ability, she had a great appreciation for music and shared many niche bands with her brother and his friends- including the Beatles, Rush, and of course, Jethro Tull. Michelle was a voracious reader, her favorite titles included Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There, John Brunner’s Stand on Zanzibar, and the book most revered in her personal library, Frank Herbert’s Dune. She also consumed an intimidating amount of historical non-fiction, especially favoring books about the Russian Revolution, the reign of King Henry the VIII, and Egyptian antiquity. Her unceasing self-directed education was fodder for her erudite conversations. In a family of great talkers Michelle was a force, and we are silenced in her absence.

Michelle is survived by her husband of 20 years Kenneth Hogan, her brother Mason Beau Hebert, her father Hal Hebert, her daughter Tessera Wade, her granddaughter Magnolia Mulqueen, aunts, uncles and friends irrevocably made stranger and more beautiful for having known her.

In accordance with her wishes, her cremated remains will be taken to a warm beach and she will never suffer another winter.

To feel close to Michelle we will smell lilacs in the spring, read fascinating books, listen to good music, and walk in the surf.

An unmatched hostess, Michelle would have nothing less than an excellent party to commemorate her life. Our Celebration of Michelle will be in September, to give her family time to grieve, and allow those who wish to travel to Denver appropriate time to make plans.
