Obituary of John Barney Paulsen Sr.

On Tuesday, 21 June 2022, John Barney Paulsen Sr., lovingly known as Jack, Dad, and Grandpa, passed away peacefully at his home in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.

Jack was known for his big smile and friendly demeanor.  He would talk to anyone and especially loved talking to strangers in the hardware store.  He spent the majority of his career teaching building engineering and talking about one of his favorite subjects, concrete.

Jack was born in Evanston, Illinois on 06 July, 1946 to Bjarne (Barney) Percival Paulsen and Gertrude (Peggy) Barbra Levernier.

Jack is survived by his partner in life of 36 years, Constance (Connie) Lane; his daughter Pamela Paulsen and her family;  his son John Paulsen Jr. and wife Karla; grandsons Jaxden and Jase Paulsen, as well as his siblings Peggy Gregory, Sharon Olsen, Ron Paulsen, Kathe Paulsen, and Laurel Dunn.

Jack was a proud Vietnam Army Veteran who served from 1965 to 1967.  He was a past Commander of the Highlands Ranch American Legion Post number 1260 and active in the VFW Post 9644.

Later in life, one of Jack’s passions was restoring old engines and John Deere Tractors.  He was supported in this adventure by his friends at the Front Range Antique Power Association (FRAPA).

He will be greatly missed by all.

Graveside service will be held on 29 July, 2022 at 9:30 AM at Fort Logan Veterans Cemetery.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to FRAPA in Jack’s honor.  https://www.frapausa.com/
