In memory of Dolores ‘Dee’ Thompson

June 23, 1922 – September 18, 2022

Our loving mother went to join our dad, Dale, after a long and productive life.

She is survived by her three sons; Don, Dutch, and Richard and their spouses, Lynn, Jeanne, and Katherine, five grandchildren; Gill Thompson, Andrea Lyons, Kristin Anderson, Jesse Dalton, and Ethan Quedeau; their spouses Jamie Thompson, Tyler Lyons, and Kyle Anderson; and eight great grandchildren; Molly, TJ, and Margie Thompson, Perri and Sullivan Lyons, Anya Anderson, and Torrey and Finn Dalton.

Dee was born on the family homestead in Victor, Kansas. She grew up with three brothers so out of necessity was a farmhand and tomboy, helping with all the farm chores as well as the chores in the house. She attended the one room schoolhouse in Victor, high school at the nearby Hunter High School, then Washburn College in Topeka, Kansas where she obtained her teaching credentials. She went on to teach school in Kansas and Oregon. After moving to Colorado in 1954 Dee began her career as an administrative assistant for the City of Littleton and South Suburban Recreation and Park District, retiring in 1975 to travel and enjoy retirement with Dale.

She married her childhood sweetheart, Dale Thompson, on December 22, 1945 when he returned from WWII. They enjoyed sixty-five years of marriage and always maintained the deep love of each other that began when the met in grade school. Mom loved her family deeply and was always there to provide comfort and support.
