                                                     MARIA DOLORES GALLEGOS DRAIN
                                                              Born: May 26, 1942
Entered into Eternal Life : November 9, 2022

Dolores entered into her eternal rest with our Lord on November 9th surrounded by her loving
family after a long illness.

Dolores was born in Weston, Colorado to Manuel and Ophelia (Cordova) Gallegos. She was
the first of 9 children. When she was 3 years old, Dolores and her family moved to Trinidad,
Colorado, where she attended grade school and high school. Dolores moved again at 18 years
of age to Denver, where she worked as an administrative assistant.

Dolores met and married her first husband, Otto Bieber, with whom she had her first 2 children,
Joyce (Ron) Westerberg and Robert (Dawn) Bieber. Fourteen years later, her family grew
when Dolores had her third child, James Drain with her second husband, Kenneth Drain. Ken’s
children, Kenny (Barbara) Drain, Wendy Fredeen and Cindy (Martin) Richardson joined the
family as well.

Dolores was proud of being the oldest of her large family - she was known as the “head diaper
changer” which is a title she wore as a badge of honor. Dolores enjoyed family gatherings, with
her siblings, and nieces and nephews. She would often play the piano at these get-togethers,
entertaining all with her ability to play any tune by ear.

The first priority in Dolores life was her strong Catholic faith and her children and grandchildren.
She was devoted to her husband Ken, who was always by her side. Ken and Dolores were
active in their church community, and enjoyed frequent trips down to their ranch in the San Luis
Valley.

A family historian, Dolores was proud of her Hispanic heritage, and was knowledgeable about
the culture and traditions of southern Colorado. She was always eager to share stories of her
ancestors and extended family who settled in Southern Colorado.
