Obituary of Dolores May Edwards

Dolores May Edwards, 92, of Denver, Colorado, passed away on December 18, 2022 peacefully.
     Dolores was born on March 22, 1930 to Mary and Everett Hitchcock in Catskills, New York.  After Dolores graduated from Poughkeepsie High School in 1948, her intention was to apply for art school in New York to study painting.  But times were tough after WWII, so she sold all of her artwork and took a job briefly as a telephone operator at Bell Telephone.  She always said she loved that job!  It afforded her beautiful clothes and she loved to interact with all of the people.  People loved to have conversations with her.  Her wit was razor sharp and she had a beautiful laugh.
     Dolores had tremendous style and class. She was always ahead of the curve.  She was not the typical homemaker of the 50s, 60s, and 70s.  She was loving and fiercely independent which allowed her to be a jack-of-all-trades mom:  she wrote articles for newspapers, she modeled clothes, she completed continuing education courses at Kent State University, she was a tap dancer who performed with the largest troupe for the Guinness Book of World Records in New York City, she was a party activist for the Kennedy’s Presidential campaigns, she was a league bowler, and she was a card-carrying actress who took on bit parts such as in “All the Marbles” (1981) with Peter Falk.
     Dolores also enjoyed fine dining, traveling, crocheting, walking the beach, reading, listening to the latest pop hits, and watching old movies and Merv Griffin, but most of all, she enjoyed spending quality time with her family.  She spoke of how proud she was of all of them often.
     In addition to her parents and step-parents, George Thorne and Shirley Hitchcock, she was proceeded in death by her loving husband, Bradley Edwards, her sister Jean Ladzinsky, and her brother Evy Hitchcock.
     She is survived by her daughters Melanee McCutcheon, Debb Breon, and step-daughter Linda Downey, younger sister Arline Sherman and sister-in-law Gail Hitchcock, son-in-law Dale Breon, step-son-in-law Brian Downey, her grandchildren, Aidan McCutcheon, Brent Breon, Nicole and husband Tim Canter, and Devon and husband Adam Anzelc.  As well as her great-grandchildren Ella and Clayton Breon, Bradyn, Rylan, and Pearson Canter, and Xander, Claire, and Keegan Anzelc.
