Obituary for Joseph McFadden

November 10, 1950 to January 20, 2023

Joseph McFadden was a husband, a father, and a friend. Joe had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and as such, he had many professions throughout his life, he worked as a researcher, a business owner, a Safety Professional, an OSHA instructor, a neonatal paramedic, and a curriculum developer.

Joe loved being outdoors and he spent much of his free time camping, fishing or sitting on the patio. He also celebrated all kinds of wildlife, he was especially interested in and concerned for the protection and care of wolves.

Joe was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. His father was in the Royal Canadian Air Force so he lived on many different air bases in Canada. In 1965 his Dad was stationed at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It was while he was there that he decided that he would move back to Colorado after he graduated from high school.

Joe attended the University of Northern Colorado where he received a Bachelors of Science degree. It was there that he met his wife Kathryn. They were married in 1975. Joe and Katy had one daughter, Erin.

Joe is survived by his wife, Katy, his daughter, Erin, his son-in-law, Josh, his father, Jack, and 3 grandchildren, Elise, Caitlyn and Isaac. He is predeceased by his step-mother, Eva. He is also fondly remembered by extended family Judy, Steve, David, Treasa, Don and his children. Also missed by dear neighbors who became like surrogate family, Dean, Karen, Kenny, Austin and David.

Joe had a dog at his side his whole life and he most certainly felt like they were his “best companion” in both his adventures and his quiet moments. In his difficult times they brought him great comfort, and even when his memory had failed him he remembered and sought out his dogs. It would be a great omission to not mention his dear four-legged companions; Skippy, Buttons, Niki, Asher, Tynan and Calan when remembering his life.

Joe was a kind, generous, friendly and loving husband, father and friend.

He will be sorely missed.
