Obituary of Joy Eileen Hutsell Clay

Joy Eileen Hutsell Clay, 82, of Westminster, Colorado, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023.

Joy was born on 10/01/1940 to William Hutsell and Florence “Flo” (Runyon) Hutsell in Louisville, Colorado. She had six siblings, Wilma, William, Donald, Dallas, Wayne and Cleta Joyce. Joy was the last surviving sibling.

Joy married Dwayne Powell and had one child, William “Bill” Jack Powell in January of 1959.

Joy married her second husband James A Clay and helped him establish his locksmith business in Broomfield Colorado called Jimmie Lock and Key. She remained a big part of the business helping in the store even after a stroke left her partially paralyzed.

Joy loved the Lord and the church and cherished her time going to church and meeting with the monthly lady’s lunch group.

Joy was predeceased by her Parents, siblings, first husband Dwayne Powell, her second husband James A Clay. She is survived by her son William J Powell, as well as her Grandchildren, and Great Grandchildren.

Services will be held at Highland Baptist Church, 9185 Utica St., Westminster CO 80031, on Monday April 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Suntree Hospice, 3090 S. Jamaica Ct #106, Aurora CO 80014 an organization Joy received great care from.
