Obituary of Barbara Louise Winnell

Barbara “Barbie” Louise Winnell passed away, surrounded by family, on March 11, 2023. Barbie was born in Denver, Colorado, on November 12, 1954 to Vernon and Mary Winnell.

Barbie was warm, creative, and compassionate. She appreciated the beauty and good in everyone and everything around her. She was a loving mother to Amanda and Laura, a cherished sister to Cindy and Gina, and a devoted Nonnie to granddaughter Lydia (her favorite role). Barbie worked nearly her entire life in health care, with most of her time spent as a cardiac telemetry technician in hospitals in Colorado and Arizona. Barbie had one of the biggest hearts out of anyone we know, and it is only fitting that she devoted most of her life to saving the hearts of countless others. Barbie could tell you almost anything about any movie, especially the black and white ones. She would bring you the most artfully decorated gift. She would bring home any stray, hungry animal she found on a trip to the grocery store. She was late for all the little things but would always show up for the hardest, most important parts of someone’s life.

Donations can be made to The Longmont Humane Society in Barbie’s name. A celebration of life with family and friends will be held later this spring, with more details to follow; please contact Laura Paulson lauramn@gmail.com with questions.
