Obituary of Germaine Marie Parker

Germaine “Jerri” M. Parker was born December 22, 1932, in Red Lake Falls MN.

Germaine entered the gates of heaven on March 25, 2023. She was comforted by family as she met her Lord and Savior. Jerri will be deeply missed by her children; Renee, James and wife Donna, Michael and wife Susan, Mary and husband Dick, Robert and wife Karen, John and wife Lori, Matthew and wife Deb; 11 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. Jerri was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Robert “Bob” Parker; parents Joseph and Corinne Roy; and her 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

Germaine was a Godly woman, read her devotionals daily, and lived her entire life being kind and caring to others. Hers was a life of constant service.

She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting all kinds of gifts but especially blankets for the newborns in her family and her church, the Lakewood Church of Christ and Golden Church of Christ.

Playing board and card games with family were popular activities. During her alone time, she was an avid reader and enjoyed working word and jigsaw puzzles. At 90, she could still bring her love of games and words together with a mean game of Scrabble.

Jerri started league bowling in her late 50sand bowled for over 30 years. The weekly activity kept her healthy and close to family and friends.

In good seasons and in bad, Jerri enjoyed cheering on her favorite teams: the Avalanche, Broncos, and Rockies.

Jerri was the hub of the family wheel. With never a squeak, she brought everyone together.

From John:

Through Mom’s patient instruction, her passion for games, books, and crafts became mine. We loved reading aloud to one another, and read (and cried through) many classics this way. It was Mom’s love of books that sparked my own, and I was thankful to read some of my own works to her in her final days. They would not have been possible without her.

From Robert:

Mom loved music, singing in church, at a sing-along, singing with the stereo or listening to the last CD I brought over. A favorite song of hers was “You may be gone” by Paul Hardcastle. We listened to it many times because it reminded her of her own mother. Now I have that memory and “You may be gone” reminds me of my dear mother.

You may be gone, but you’ll never be forgotten!

but those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
    they will run and not grow weary,
    they will walk and not be faint

Isiah 40:31 niv
