Betty Northcutt

Obituary of Betty Jean Northcutt

Betty Northcutt was born Betty Jean Knudson on November 25, 1948 in Viborg, South Dakota. She was the fifth child of Stanley and Verla Knudson. Betty grew up on a farm outside of Centerville, SD until she moved, with her family to Brookings, SD when her parents purchased a local motel. She completed her last year of high school and graduated from Brookings High School. She was joined in marriage to David Bozied in 1968. Their marriage was blessed with their daughter, Bobbi Jean. During their marriage Betty helped David start his first business, B & B Concrete.

Betty married Teddy Woodrow Northcutt (Woody) on February 15, 1980 and moved to Denver, Colorado. They spent 31 wonderful years together. Betty worked several different types of jobs throughout her time in Denver, including as a receptionist and banker. The job she loved most was providing cleaning services with her close friend Barb Allen. She was also a very talented seamstress and handywoman. There was no project too ambitious for her, and this was before YouTube how-to videos! Betty was primarily a caretaker. She lovingly cared for her husband Woody through several years of supernuclear palsy. After his death, she returned to South Dakota to care for her aging parents. Finally, she moved back to Denver in 2017 to be close to her daughter, son-in-law and three of her grandchildren. She was a loving mom and bonus mom, but cherished being a Nana most of all.

Betty passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on February 4, 2023 after a difficult battle with biliary duct cancer. She is preceded in death by her husband Woody Northcutt, her past husband David Bozied, her parents Stanley and Verla Knudson, and two sisters Vera Nelson and Lavonne Knudson. She is survived by her daughter Bobbi Miller (Bozied) and her husband Chad of Arvada Colorado, her bonus son Tedd Northcutt and his wife Stephanie of Butte, Montana; eight grandchildren Ryder Colbert-Perales, Kendall and Lilly Miller, Jessica, Daniel, Benjamin and Brianna Northcutt, and Kelsey Vasquez, three brothers and their wives: Kenneth (Sonny) and Joan Knudson, Gordan and Jeannie Knudson, James (Jim) and Tyke Knudson, one sister and her husband: Gail and Steve Monteith, one brother-in-law Bennett Nelson, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of the life of Betty Jean Northcutt will take place on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 2:00PM at Arvada United Methodist Church, 6750 Carr Street, Arvada, CO 80004.
