Obituary of Melva Alicia Boyd

Melva Alicia Boyd, aka by her friends as “Candy”, was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness, wife, mother, sister, and friend, died Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at the age of 70. She was born to Elijah and Kathleen Boyd on December 5, 1952, in Baltimore, Maryland. She was the beloved sister to the late Brenda “Joyce” Pritchett, Isaac “Chuck” Boyd, John “Champ” Boyd and Reginald “Reggie” Boyd.

She graduated from Dundalk Senior High School, then attended Northern Virginia Community College and went on to a career in government service at multiple federal agencies including the Department of Labor, Government Accountability Office, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and Federal Deposit and Insurance Corporation. Melva met her husband Anthony Padilla in Washington D.C., had one child Roberto and they remained together for 45 years.

Melva spent much time at the Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was a devoted member of the of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Littleton, Colorado.

Aside from volunteering at the congregation, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, shopping, listening to music, traveling, cooking and laughing.

Survivors include her only child Roberto Padilla (married to Leah Padilla) She is also survived by her brothers Elijah “Bootsie” Boyd and Dwayne “Chipper” Boyd, her sisters Jarritus “Rita” Wolfinger, Kathleen “Debbie” Breedy and Sameerah Rasheed. Other survivors include her six grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends whose hearts she’s touched in her lifetime.

Services will be held by the Red Rocks Congregation of the Jehovah’s Witnesses
