Obituary of John Regis Shields Jr.
John Regis (Jack) Shields, Jr. of Aurora, CO passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on April 23, 2023.
Born in Homestead, PA on September 18, 1935, Jack is survived by his daughter Laura (Shields) Kathman, son in law, Michael (Mike) Kathman of Aurora, CO, son John Regis (Jay) Shields III and daughter in law, Elizabeth (Liz) Shields, his two grandsons, John Regis (Jack) Shields IV and Clarke William of Centennial, CO, brothers Ed (Susan) of Pickerington, OH and Bob (Kathy) of Moon Township, PA, six nephews, two nieces, five grandnephews and nine grandnieces. Jack is preceded by death by his parents, John Regis Shields, Sr., Catherine (Horner) Shields, his brother James (Jim) Shields all of Pittsburgh PA and his beloved partner, Barbara Anne Greene of Aurora, CO.
Jack attended Duquesne University for a year and then volunteered for the draft and entered the Army. Jack often shared stories of all the adventures he had ‘off the base’ in the 18 months he was stationed in Germany.
After being discharged from the Army, he returned to Pittsburgh and began his career in sales…a field he was born to be in! A natural connector and a skilled negotiator, Jack began his career with Liggett and Myers Tobacco Company before moving on to Northern Tissue, American Can, Faygo Pop and The Fonda Group. Not ready to call it quits, Jack found a second career in retirement selling promotional items.
Wanting to be closer to family, Jack moved from Michigan to Colorado in 2013 where he met his wonderful partner, Barbara. On any given day you could find them running errands, debating politics, having heartfelt conversations, binge watching a great show and watching Pittsburgh sports! They made family and friends a priority and stayed connected by traveling to amazing places like Puerto Vallarta, Boston, Clearwater Beach, Napa Valley, Detroit, Columbus, Pittsburgh, Atlantic Beach, NC and their trip of a lifetime to Ireland in 2018.
There will be a Funeral Mass and Celebration of Life held on June 10, 2023.
The Funeral Mass will be at 11am at OUR LADY OF LORETO, 18000 East Arapahoe Road, Foxfield, CO 80016. The Celebration of Life will be from 1-5pm at Heritage Eagle Bend Golf Club, 23155 East Heritage Parkway, Aurora, CO 80016.
