Obituary of Ann Hovde Nelson

Ann Nelson died surrounded by her family on October 6, 2023, at Porter Hospice in Centennial, CO ending her year long battle with Pancreatic Cancer. 

 

A celebration of Ann’s life will take place at 10 A.M., Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Christ Lutheran Church in Highlands Ranch, CO.  Followed by reception, at Leif and Ann’s house, directions will be provided at the ceremony. In honor of Ann, please add purple to your outfit for the service.

 

Ann Christine (Hovde) Nelson was born on February 27, 1957 in Decorah, IA. She was baptized and confirmed in Decorah, IA at First Lutheran Church. In High School she was involved in track, tennis, cheer leading and many more activities. 

 

Ann graduated from the  University of Iowa 1979 where  she earned her bachelor degree in Elementary Education. She taught in several schools in Iowa and Colorado including Franklin Elementary School, Red Rocks Elementary School and Blue Heron Elementary School. She loved teaching many grade levels but especially loved preschool.

 

Ann married Leif Allan Nelson on July 20th, 1985 in Decorah, IA. They lived in Morrison, CO where they raised their 4 children. She enjoyed many family vacations and togetherness in the mountains. She loved time at home with her husband, kids, grandkids and dogs.

Ann was a Mom, DMa, Dear, Aunt, Boo Boo, Mrs. Nelson. She had many names and titles and every one of them were significant.  She was devoted in everything she did and loved everyone that surrounded her immensely.

 

Ann is welcomed into the heavenly throng by her parents Harriet and Oivind, mother -and -father-in-law Solveig and Glenn Nelson, infant sister Karen Hovde, brothers in law Wayne Paulson,  Knute Nelson and, Marvin VanCamp, and nephew Nathan Balk.

 

Left to remember and celebrate her life are her husband Leif; son Eric (Angie): Ingrid and Anneliese; daughter Britta (Allen): Astrid, Bjorn and Aksel; daughter Sonja (Nick): Anders; daughter Solveig (Kyle); sister Marty (Fred) Bergrsrud; brother Peter (Charlie) Hovde; brother David (Marj) Hovde; sister in law Karla (John) Balk; sister in law Karina VanCamp; sister in law Kristie Nelson and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
