Obituary of Margaret Ann Cress

Margaret “Peggy” Ann Cress at age 77, went to be with the Lord on October 6, 2023, at her home. She was born on September 7, 1946, in Alamosa, Colorado to Wayne and Lucille (Eckard) Harrison. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1964. After high school, she worked a couple of jobs. Her favorite job was working at TOT College as a preschool teacher, where sometimes the children would mispronounce her name saying, “Miss Piggy.”  She often joked that she was famous before the well-known puppet. This is where she developed her love of children, which she continued for the rest of her life.  

 On September 21, 1974, she married the love of her life, Dallas Cress. To that union were born two lovely daughters, Kymberly Ann, and Jennifer Maye. As a stay-at-home mom, she volunteered at serval MOPS groups and helped her best friend by watching her children as well. When her children were in high school, she returned to working at preschools, first at the Sonshine Center and later at Wooden Shoe. She loved children! She was so excited when she became a grandma and loved to tell stories and share pictures with her friends and even strangers. She treasured being “Grammy” to Alyssa, Jlynn, Daniel, Eric, Silas, Isabelle, Gabrielle, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Tessa. Even more than she loved her family, she loved the Lord and would tell anyone she met about her faith.  

In her spare time, she enjoyed music, especially listening to the old hymns or using her musical talent playing both piano and accordion for others. She loved watching sunsets as well as reading, doing puzzles, and playing card or board games with family and friends. Her life was happy, blessed, and fulfilled.  

 Peggy was diagnosed with advanced-stage Alzheimer's in January of 2022, although she had been showing signs earlier. She was cared for at home by her family. When she needed more care in May of this year, she was placed on in-home Hospice care. The disease took her memories and her ability to answer many personal history questions. But this one fact remained, when asked about her faith she said, “I believe Jesus is my Lord and Savior and He died and rose again for my sins.”  

 She was preceded in death by her parents Wayne and Lucille Harrison. Also, her brother Robert “Bob” and his wife Shirley Harrison as well as other foster siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  

 She is survived by her Husband Dallas. Her Daughters and their families: Kym and David Guerrero of Thornton, Colorado, and their children, Alyssa, Danny, Eric, Izzy, JJ, Zeke, and Tessa. Jenny and Russ Smith of Inola, Oklahoma, and their children Jlynn, Silas, and Ellee. Along with foster siblings, an uncle, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  

 Family, Friends, and others whose lives Peggy touched are invited to TriCity Baptist Church, 6953 W 92nd Ln, Westminster, CO 80021, to celebrate her life on Saturday, October 28th at 11:00 am. Please join us afterward for a luncheon in the gym. The service can also be viewed via live stream at www.tricitybaptist.org (click on Sunday morning live stream).
