Obituary of Charles Michael Williams

Mike was born in Jacksonville, Florida while his mother Betty (Nan) Hall Williams and father C. Linzie Williams were stationed at Green Cove Springs during Linzie’s service to our country. Upon discharge the family moved back to their hometown of Larned KS and the family grew to include brothers Dick, Kent, and finally little sister Laurie.

Mike married Marilyn Bauman in 1962 and the newlyweds began a great adventure that revolved around family and many wonderful years serving as a Ranger in Yellowstone National Park. Beginning in 1962 Mike worked in the Mammoth Fire Cache, followed by a lookout Ranger stationed at Divide and Washburn lookout towers until 1965, Canyon Village from 1966 to 1969, and lastly a Ranger at Tower Junction from 1970 to 1981.

During this time Mike and Marilyn raised two daughters Marsha and Mandy, while Mike pursued his master’s degree setting the stage for a career teaching biology and chemistry. After relocating to Lakewood, Colorado Mike taught at several middle and senior high schools, ultimately spending many years teaching at North High School. His teaching career ended with several years of substitute teaching allowing him to continue with his love of educating.

Mike was briefly married to Nancy Holmes and lovingly took on the role of stepfather to Nancy’s children Tory and Tara.

In 1988 Mike married Becky Lung and became a loving stepfather to Travis and Jeff Johnson. Becky and Mike settled in Westminster Colorado and enjoyed frequent vacations to destinations commonly involving sun and sand. Mike’s eyes would light up whenever conversations turned to the next vacation destination and the group of people who would be joining them on the trip.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents Nan and Linzie Williams, and survived by all of his siblings, wives, daughters, and stepchildren.
