Obituary of Gerrie Mayber

In Loving Memory of

Gerrie Mayber

July 16, 1950 – November 2, 2023

Gerrie Lee Mayber, age 73, passed peacefully on the morning of November 2, 2023, at her residence in Denver Colorado.

Gerrie was born on July 16, 1950, in Pueblo, Colorado to Chandis and Alta Ableman. She grew up and resided most of her life in Pueblo. During high school she was a cheerleader and involved in many extracurricular clubs and activities. She graduated from East High School in 1968. Shortly after the summer of 1969, she married and had her 2 sons (Rob and Chan) and several years later her daughter (Jessica). For Gerrie, nothing was more important than loving and supporting her family, especially regarding her children while encouraging and promoting their successes. After graduating from cosmetology school, she began her lifelong career making other people look and feel beautiful. She made many friends and worked hard for over 30 years. After retiring she lived with her dad and was diagnosed with early-onset vascular dementia in 2014. It was comforting at a difficult time that they moved into the same assisted living facility in Colorado Springs. As her dementia progressed, she made a final move to Brookshire House in Denver where she was visited often by her 3 children and close family. Upon arriving at Brookshire House, she immediately captured the hearts of staff and other residents where she continued to dance, and make people smile and laugh every day.

Gerrie was a beautiful woman and had a smile and a sparkle in her eyes that never faded. She loved music and dancing and being around family and friends. Her cheery and playful demeanor would make anyone around her feel happy and forget about their troubles.

Gerrie was preceded in death by both her parents, Chandis and Alta Ableman, and her nephew Michael Ableman.

Gerrie is survived by her sister Debra Ableman-DeNiro, sons Robert Mayber III (Sandy), Chan Mayber (Paula), daughter Jessica Cook (Ryan), and her grandchildren Cassy (Ty), Robby IV (Jessie), Weston, Jake, Tynlee, and James, and her great grandchildren Zebby, Robby V, Lane, and Marlee. Gerrie is also survived by her nephew and niece, Benny Ableman (Kari), Chandra Reinhart (Brad), as well as great nephews and nieces, Jack, Henry, Emma, Paxton, Leighton and Claira.

Gerrie will never be forgotten and will live in our hearts forever.

Memorial Service will be held on Friday December 1st at 10:00am at First Presbyterian Church of Littleton.  1609 W. Littleton Blvd.  Reception immediately following at Chan and Paula's home.
