Obituary of Timothy Mark Butler

The family of TIMOTHY MARK BUTLER are heartbroken to share the news of his leaving this life on October 11, 2023. He turned 70 during his month long stay in ICU at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Denver after surgery to remove a cancerous tumor.

Born September 29, 1953 in Garfield Heights, Ohio to Evelyn Ruth and Harold Francis Butler, he grew up in Maple Heights, Ohio, along with siblings Neil, Dan, Rebecca and Michael. The entire family eventually moved to Colorado where Tim settled in Pueblo West. While living there he volunteered with the Fire Department.

He moved to the Denver area sometime between 1979-80 and worked at various companies before being hired at COBE Laboratories in 1981. He remained at that company (which became Gambro, then Caridian and finally Terumo) until his retirement in 2019.

Tim is remembered by his friends and family as being a kind and loving man. He had a good sense of humor and loved sharing Dad jokes whenever he had a chance. He had a great love of music, fly fishing, and woodworking. He was willing to take on any project and made sure everything he did was done with perfection. He completely remodeled the Arvada home he and his wife, Sonja shared until his death.

Tim is preceded in death by both his parents, brother Dan and sister Becky.

He is survived by wife, Sonja Charles, daughters Janel (Paul) Gaines of Longmont, Marie Butler of Ferndale, WA (grandchildren Laylah, Kaleb, and Gabriel), and Amy Butler (Josh Likes and grandson Gavin). He was also an amazing bonus father to Jesse Hollenbaugh, Keith Castillo (grandchildren Vincent, Adriana, and Avien) and Megan (Jed) Salazar (granddaughter Mariana). Also survived by brother Neil (Donna) and Michael (Laurie) along with nephews, nieces and cousins.

We will celebrate his life in the Spring of 2024. Details will be shared at a later date.
