June Foster

Obituary of June Marie Foster

June was born May 17, 1931, in Miami, Florida to Willard and Phyllis Thompson. She passed away peacefully on November 16, 2023, at Collier Hospice in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.

She was raised in Miami by her Aunt Dorothy and adopted at age 1 ½ after her mother had passed away. Dorothy later married Hugh Hodge and was given their last name.

She attended Catholic schools in both Key West and Miami. Her upbringing was very strict as June's grandmother from the Bahamas also lived with them.

June was Homecoming queen in High School and a beauty. She had been attending Nursing School when she met her future husband, George, as he had been dating her roommate at the time. June had to choose to finish Nursing School or get married. It was not allowed to be married and continue with Nursing School.

June and George married on April 14, 1951, and shared 61 blessed years together. They had two children, Michael and Lorrie.

June worked for a Plastic Surgeon and then on to Baptist Hospital as an OR Nurse in the Miami area. She later became the Director for Pre School & Kindergarten at Gateway Baptist Church. June was very caring and compassionate as she opened her home to unwed pregnant women, exchange students, many relatives, and her children's teenage friends who had troubles. She always loved to be with family and friends. June loved to fish, swim, waterski, and entertain every weekend.

June and George moved to Littleton, Colorado in 1977 to enjoy a new life of snow skiing, camping, and picnics. She continued working in the medical field as a nurse. After retirement, they joined the Red Cross for training to help with fires, floods, & the homeless. She enjoyed many years of Ministry for a Food Bank.

June had faith and loved our Lord and always put "things in God's hands". A truly amazing and dedicated Christian woman who touched many lives as a mother, sister, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

June was welcomed into Heaven by her beloved husband George, her natural parents, Willard & Phyllis Thompson, her adoptive parents, Hugh & Dorothy Hodge, her brother Paul Hodge, nephew Greg Hodge, and her granddaughter Leanne Foster-Gaines.

Left to remember and celebrate her life are her son Michael(Elizabeth), daughter Lorrie, and five grandchildren Tasheba(Trevor), Rob(Kristina), Dustin(Nicole), Rebecca, and Jered(Amy).

Sixteen great-grandchildren: Aidan, Alexander, Myka, Avalon, Evelyn, Zoe, Connor, Grace, Kadence, Adalynn, Tegan, Marcus, Lukas, Kennedy, Emily, Erik, nephews, nieces, & cousins.
