Obituary of Tracey Devney

 

Tracey Devney, 52, of Castle Rock, CO, passed away peacefully at home on December 14, 2023. She is survived by husband Mark Devney and their bulldog Dobby, daughter Cassie Devney Oliver and her husband Nick Oliver, brother William Steinka, and her parents Bill and Bunny Steinka, along with many loving cousins and in-laws. Tracey is originally from Suffield, CT, and found her dream home in Castle Rock in 2015.  

 

Tracey started volunteering for Special Olympics when she was just a kid.  Later she coached, and then headed the Special Education department for the town.  This led to her getting a Master’s in Education (summa cum laude) from American International College, which launched her Special Ed teaching career.  In addition to teaching Special Ed, Tracey spent her life following her passions, joining in local theater and choir groups, and volunteering for dog rescue groups, having fostered countless dogs in need.  She enjoyed reading, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family.
