Obituary of Richard E Enslow

The Enslow family is sad to announce the passing of Richard ‘Dick’ Enslow. Carol, his wife of 57 years, his daughter Kedra Hood and her husband Josh, and Dick’s most precious granddaughter Sophie, will miss him greatly. Dick was born in Aurora, Illinois to parents Elaine and Everett Enslow. He was very close to his younger sister Betty Ann. This Enslow family had a large group of friends called ‘the fishing gang’. Every summer they vacationed together at Lake Namakagen, Wisc. The fun they had was epic – swimming, water skiing, fishing, golfing, canoeing, and having costume parties. Millikin University bestowed an Engineering degree on Dick and he began his professional career with Allis Chalmers electric lift truck division in suburban Chicago. In 1973 Dick, Carol, Kedra, and Brad moved to Lakewood, Colorado and he began a job with Materials Handling Equipment Company. Dick loved coaching/attending all the sporting teams games for daughter Kedra and son Brad. And helped decorate the hallways and gym at Columbine High School for all their proms. Dick was an avid golfer and enjoyed pheasant hunting and fishing. When The Meadows Golf Club was built Dick was one of the early men’s club presidents. In 1996 Dick and Carol joined The Pinery Country Club, playing lots of golf and spending time with all their friends there for 24 years. Dicks Saturday men’s group was especially close to him. Additionally Dick and Carol spent many hours playing Bridge. Some of Dicks most treasured friends were made at the bridge table. His sister Betty Ann and her husband John Persico live in Mountain Home, Arkansas. John is also an avid golfer and they live on the 10th fairway of their club. Dick and John would play many holes a day when we visited and then play bridge in the evenings. Dick will be missed. The Arapahoe Sertoma club ‘Service To Mankind’ was an important part of Dick’s life. The men in this club were special to him and their charity of helping hearing impaired youth was to be admired.
